Things That Apparently Exist: A Washing Machine for Your Brushes

Well, when it comes to labor-saving devices it seems they’ve now thought of everything. I thought brush-cleaning mats were a pretty neat idea, but Lilumia has taken things to a whole new level by making an automated washing machine for your makeup brushes – just pop your brushes in, add water and cleanser and off you go! Unlike the StylPro – which spins your brushes and looks like it would absolutely demolish the hairs in short order – the Lilumia seems to avoid all the brush-cleaning no-nos. No spinning, no soaking the ferrules and the silicone mat looks like it will be pretty gentle on the bristles.

I admit it’s fairly unnecessary – after all, as my mom would say, my hands aren’t broken – but at the same time I really kind of want to play with this and see if it works as well as cleaning them by hand. And you have to admit the thought of putting your brushes in the washer and going off to read a book is pretty attractive.

Would you ever use a makeup brush washer, or is it a bit too gimmicky for you?

It piques my gadget-obsessed interests, but I don’t know if I can justify $150 for it. Maybe I’ll add it to a list of gift ideas and see if, “Santa,” gets it.

Yup, it’s one of those things that I really kind of want but don’t know if I can justify it to myself :-)
