Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

You know what I like about Hourglass? They listen to their customers. The Ambient Lighting Blushes were released a bit ahead of schedule in response to all the folks clamoring to get their hands on them, and now they’ve re-released another favorite by popular demand. Their Ambient Lighting Palette (which I reviewed here) is available again on the Hourglass web store, and it will also be coming back to Sephora soon. I’ve been loving this, so for the sake of anyone who missed it the first time around I’m glad it’s back! I still don’t think the colors are perfect for every skin tone, though. I use Dim as an all over powder, but I’ve heard from several paler folks that it adds too much color for them, and works better as a bronzer. Radiant likewise may be too dark/golden for some people. Incandescent is an amazing highlight color though, and I think just about anyone can use it. Maybe we can talk them into releasing it as a single?

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette ($58) is, or will be, available at hourglasscosmetics.com and sephora.com.

Are these supposed to be all-over powders? I’ve seen so many people review them but I haven’t been able to pinpoint what they’re best for to decide if I should buy.

I use Dim as an all-over finishing powder (and the same for Diffused/Ethereal/Mood, which I have full sizes of). Incandescent is fairly shimmery so I use that as a highlighter, and Radiant works best for me as a sheer bronzer. I think Radiant could maybe be used all over on deeper skintones, but it adds way too much color for me to use it that way.

Edit: And I should also add that Mood does add some color, so it’s probably best as an all-over powder for medium-deep skin tones. I’ve heard of it being used as a sheer blush on light skin.

I saw that these are already on the hourglass website but do you know when they will be coming back to sephora?

Right now the page on Sephora’s website just says “coming soon”. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any rumors yet for an exact date.
