I got this liner in the 500 point Dolce & Gabbana perk that’s currently available at Sephora, which comes with a full size eyeliner, deluxe samples of Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme and Pour Homme and a burgundy velvet cosmetic bag. I was mainly interested in trying out the eyeliner, so we’ll take a look at that today. I’m not sure if they all come with the same color eyeliner, but I got Green Almond (number 17).

Packaging

The eyeliner comes in a fairly standard wooden pencil form. Not sure there’s really a lot more to say about that, other than it sharpens easily without cracking or breaking. The opposite end has a spongy smudger tip; I didn’t find it very useful because it’s a little bit stiff and uncomfortable on my eyelids. Both ends are covered with gold metal caps that are consistent with the other product packaging in the Dolce & Gabbana makeup line. The dual ends make it the longest of all my pencil products; it just barely fits across the short side of a Muji drawer.

Color

Green Almond is a very accurate description of the color. It’s a little lighter than olive, but darker than pistachio, with a bit of shimmer. As pretty as it is, it’s quite a bit lighter than what I’d normally use along my lashlines. It only adds a hint of definition, so it works best for a more natural look.

Texture, Application & Wear

The texture of the pencil is fairly soft but unfortunately that doesn’t translate to smooth application for some reason. It takes a lot of pressure to get any color onto your skin. The swatches above are one swipe (on the left) and five firm swipes (on the right). That’s fine on my hand, but using that much pressure around my eyes is… just no. I wasn’t able to get it to show up on my waterline at all. On the plus side, once I get some on there it wears well for 8-10 hours – even putting eye drops in didn’t make it smudge.

In Short: If I had paid for this eyeliner, I’d be returning it.

It’s still maybe worth it if you like the fragrances, but just for the eyeliner I’d skip it.
