Year in Review: My Favorite Products of 2013

[cf-shortcode plugin=”acf” field=”affiliate_link”]

I thought I’d have trouble picking favorites for the whole entire year, but when it came time to decide (ie, when I just couldn’t procrastinate anymore) it actually wasn’t hard. All of these things have either made their way into my daily routine, or they’re just ridiculously good. Here are my top ten favorite products for 2013:

2013 Favorites

Burberry Light Glow Blush in Rose – Ok, picking a favorite Burb blush was a little bit hard because they’re all amazing. I eventually decided on Rose because it’s a really pretty wear-with-anything shade – and of course it has the same great pigmentation and long wear that they all do.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder – I still haven’t found a powder contour color that comes close to this. Cool enough to look natural but not so grey that you look ill. See? Perfect.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer – This primer has been great for controlling oil without dehydrating my skin, and it doesn’t feel sticky or greasy.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders – How surprised are you about this? I couldn’t pick just one, though I probably use Dim and Incandescent the most. For something that isn’t really noticeable they sure make a huge difference in the overall finished look.

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation – I haven’t been wearing this foundation much lately because my skin is a bit dry for it, but I had to put it in my favorites for the year because I’ve rarely been as wowed by a foundation as this one. It’s the first (and so far only) foundation I’ve found that actually does control oily skin all day.

Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color in High Beam White – I looked high and low for a non-shimmery highlighter because my skin texture isn’t super even (huge understatement), and then someone suggested this to me. It rapidly became a staple in my everyday makeup.

Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in Rosewood – I pretty much have to make myself use other shadows besides this one. I love neutrals, and Rosewood is a perfect pinky taupe that goes with a ton of looks.

YSL Faux Cils Babydoll Mascara – Volume? Check. Separation? Check. Deep, dark blackness? Check.

Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony – There are quite few brow products that I use and like, but I’ve gone through several of these because they’re so freakin’ great. It’s easy to use, stays on all day and Anastasia is my go-to for natural-looking brow colors.

Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony – I always fail miserably at tightlining with a pencil, but this stuff makes it painless (literally). Used with the Activator Fluid, it stays on all day with zero transfer to my waterline.

The Shiseido highlighter is very intriguing! You are the first person to mention this and I think I will look for this at my local Shiseido counter. I get what you are saying about a highlighter that doesn’t make your skin look gross… I will definitely take a swatch of this :) Thanks for the lovely post, I’m so jealous of the blush, I do not have access to purchasing Burberry products! xo

Definitely try out the Shiseido! I love it, and you only need a bit so the pan lasts foreeeeever. It’s tragic that you don’t have Burberry there, though! I wonder if you could get it via a mail forwarding service?
