2014 Favorites: Part 2

What better way to kick off the new year than to look back at some awesome things about the last one, amiright? I made a lot of new discoveries in makeup this year, but there were a few things I loved so much that I had to make a conscious effort to put them away and give something else a turn. And yes, there are a couple repeats from last year, but it’s just because I like them that much.

(Clockwise starting from the left)

Armani Master Corrector in Pink – After years of piling on concealer in the hopes of disguising my deep tear troughs, I finally figured out that all I really need is a color corrector. Just a tiny dab of this hides the shadowy areas, so I only need a miniscule amount of concealer under my eyes. You wouldn’t even realize I’m not functional until the second cup of coffee in the morning (well, unless you talk to me before that anyway).

Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color in High Beam White – This was in my favorites from last year, and it still has a top spot in my highlighter rotation. The nearly-matte finish is perfect for everyday, and this stuff seriously lasts for. ever. I’m just now starting to make a dent in it.

Guerlain Meteorites in 02 Clair – If I said the gorgeous packaging wasn’t part of the reason I love these so much, I’d be a big liar-face. That jar just looks so pretty! But the pearls have a lovely, glowy finish that I can’t stay away from. In fact, I like them so much that I’m considering getting the pressed version to keep on me at all times.

YSL Couture Palette #4 Saharienne – This new eyeshadow formula from YSL was released over the summer and you know how much I like shiny new things. I was really impressed with the texture and pigmentation, and these colors are just incredibly easy to wear.

NARS Blush in Deep Throat – One of the best ‘deluxe samples’ I’ve gotten, ever. It’s almost full-size (by product weight), I love the color, and the shimmer is pretty tame. Plus it’s miniature, which automatically ups the cute factor by about ten.

NARS Instant Line & Pore Perfector – When I first got this I liked it, but I didn’t have hugely strong feelings about it. But it grew on me. I still don’t use it every day because it’s a relatively small amount of product, but any time I want a really smooth finish to my makeup I know I can count on this stuff.

NARS Brow Perfector in Suriname – I did have strong feelings about this brow pencil when I first got it (love). Now that I’ve been using it for most of a year and am halfway through my second one – yup, still in love. It’s a great match for my hair color and doesn’t budge all day.

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation – Another repeat from my 2013 favorites. My skin is much less oily now than it used to be, but I still need something to keep me matte, especially during the summer. Through oil and sweat, this foundation hasn’t let me down.

Surratt Artistique Blush in Grisaille – Ohhhh, betcha didn’t see this one coming! Yeah, right. I’ve started using this almost exclusively for contouring, and it’s so easy to use that I do a bit of contouring most days. It’s got a nice dip in it, but I expect it to be with me through most of 2015 too.
