New Stuff: Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette

Ok, so I know this isn’t really news news, since one of the palettes was already released at Barneys, but – the rest of the Hourglass Modernist palettes are showing up on Sephora today. They’re not available to order yet – still noted as Coming Soon – and it looks like they’ll be Rouge exclusive for a while, but at least we can ogle all the pretty colors! In the meantime, you can see my review of the first one here, along with some stock images/descriptions:

Hourglass Modernist Palette Obscura

Obscura – pale ivory, pale pink, cool coffee, espresso, charcoal

Hourglass Modernist Palette Monochrome

Monochrome – pale ivory, pale pink, cool coffee, espresso, charcoal

Hourglass Modernist Palette Infinity

Infinity – warm ivory, rosy beige, brown copper, chocolate taupe, rich brown

Hourglass Modernist Palette Graphite

Graphite – warm ivory, metallic gold, deep chocolate, midnight blue, metallic silver

Hourglass Modernist Palette Exposure

Exposure – shell, violet, pink copper, eggplant, lavender

Hourglass Modernist Palette Color Field

Color Field – warm ivory, champagne shimmer, earthy brown, metallic olive, dark green

Hourglass Modernist Palette Atmosphere

Atmosphere – pale ivory, pale pink, cool coffee, espresso, charcoal

It looks like there are a lot of similarities across the palettes, so it’s not necessarily a gotta-catch-em-all situation. There’s probably a little something for everyone in there, though, unless you’re a big fan of acid-bright shades, in which case Hourglass probably isn’t your go-to brand anyway. Personally I’m gravitating (haha, get it?) toward Color Field – I’m not usually a big wearer of green eyeshadow, but something about that olive is just calling my name.

Hourglass Modernist Palette ($58) is available at sephora.com

    Those palettes look absolutely gorgeous!!

However, as there is no way of depoting them, I can fortunately say skip!

That’s 100% true, I’m pretty sure if you tried to depot these they’d crack into a billion pieces. Someone on specktra did manage to depot her ALPs/ALBs, but these shadows are much softer.

Yesterday I watched Tara’s (from tarababayz ) haul on it and she pionted out she had issues when blending and that the palette was very powdery (taking into account the high price). I may skip these ones, also because as stated above it’s impossible to depot the eyeshadows. I don’t see what is the problem on doing simple quints like Chanel or Dior. I think Hourglass was too into the marbled look of their other powder products but in this case for me it’s a fail. I wish they reconsider this approach and release better palettes in the future.
